BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) _ A 51-year-old Hannah man has died after apparently driving over a submerged road near Wales and trying to walk through frigid flood water.
The man, who has not been identified, was found at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the man was driving northbound eight miles north of Wales Tuesday night when he tried to cross a portion of the road that had been washed out by rising waters earlier in the day. The Highway Patrol thinks the man then exited his partially submerged pickup to attempt to walk through the waters.
The man was found dead in the water. Investigators believe icy waters and unusually cold temperatures contributed to his death.
The incident remains under investigation.
