The Bottom Line: June 27th is Sunglasses Day!

The Full Story:

June 27th is Sunglasses Day! Sunglasses are an essential accessory during the summer. People have been wearing gear to protect their eyes for centuries, and the fashionable ones we see today are recent inventions.

In the prehistoric era, the Inuit people used walrus ivory to create sun goggles, and by the 1700s it was common for doctors to prescribe tinted glasses for vision correction. Modern-day sunglasses first appeared in the 1930s in Atlantic City, and just before World War 11 a little company by the name of Ray Ban produced a product called “Aviators.” Aviators were the first commercially successful style of sunglasses.

To celebrate, buy yourself a new pair of shades! Or flaunt your favorite pair out and about!
